How to Use CVFormatter with JobAdder: A Practical Guide for Recruiters

A practical step-by-step guide showing recruiters how to connect CVFormatter with JobAdder, format candidate resumes faster, and send polished CVs back into JobAdder.

Recruiters using JobAdder are used to moving fast.

Candidates are sourced quickly, pipelines move efficiently, and submissions are often time-sensitive. Yet for many teams, one step still slows everything down right before client submission:

CV formatting.

Downloading resumes, cleaning up layouts, fixing spacing, and re-uploading files may feel like small tasks, but they add friction at exactly the wrong moment in the workflow.

CVFormatter integrates directly with JobAdder to remove this friction. Instead of manual formatting and repeated file handling, recruiters can format resumes in a consistent, client-ready template and send them back into JobAdder with control and clarity.

This guide walks through how the integration works in practice.

What You Need Before You Start

Before using CVFormatter with JobAdder, make sure you have:

  • An active CVFormatter account
  • Access to a JobAdder account with permission to connect integrations
  • At least one CVFormatter template set up (we convert your first template for FREE)

Once these are in place, the integration can be connected in minutes.

Step 1: Connecting CVFormatter to Your JobAdder Account

The first step is to connect your JobAdder account to CVFormatter.

Log in to CVFormatter and navigate to ResumesSettingsATS Integration:

CVFormatter Settings - ATS Integration

Select Connect JobAdder:

CVFormatter - Connect JobAdder

You will be redirected to JobAdder to authorise access:

Accept the access and return to CVFormatter:

Once connected, CVFormatter can securely receive resumes from JobAdder and send formatted versions back. The integration remains active unless you manually disconnect it.

Step 2: Sending Original Resumes from JobAdder to CVFormatter

After the integration is set up, recruiters can start formatting real candidate resumes.

From JobAdder, open a candidate profile and locate the candidate’s original resume, click on Actions:

JobAdder - Click on 'Action'

Click on CVFormatterExport resume to CVFormatter in the drop-down menu:

JobAdder - Click on 'CVFormatter'

The original resume is transferred directly into CVFormatter:

There is no need to download the file locally or re-upload it manually. The original resume remains unchanged and stored in JobAdder.

This step simply creates a formatting workflow without altering your ATS records.

Step 3: View Resumes Formatted Inside CVFormatter

Once the resume arrives in CVFormatter, formatting becomes a controlled and repeatable process.

Inside CVFormatter, recruiters can:

  • Apply an agency-approved CV template (set your default template via ResumesSettings)
  • Automatically standardise layout, spacing, headings, and sections
  • Edit extracted content from resumes (optional)
  • Review or download the formatted CV in Word / PDF

Recruiters can adjust and re-download formatted CVs using multiple templates without consuming additional resume credits. This is particularly useful when submitting the same candidate to multiple clients.

Step 4: Sending Formatted Resumes Back to JobAdder

Open the resume in CVFormatter's Workspace:

Click ATS Export:

CVFormatter - Click on 'ATS Export'

Attach the formatted resume to an existing candidate profile, or Create a new JobAdder candidate:

Find the formatted resume on JobAdder → Candidate → Resume → Formatted:

The formatted resume is then attached to the candidate record in JobAdder and becomes available for:

  • Client submissions
  • Internal collaboration
  • Future reuse

Importantly, formatted CVs are only sent back when the recruiter chooses to do so. This ensures JobAdder remains clean and only contains reviewed, client-ready documents.

A Recommended Standard Workflow for Teams

Most recruitment teams adopt a simple, consistent workflow:

  1. Import Candidate resume on JobAdder
  2. Send Resumes from JobAdder to CVFormatter
  3. CVFormatter automatically formats resumes using your default agency template
  4. Send back formatted CV into JobAdder
  5. Submit the candidate to the client

This approach eliminates version confusion, reduces admin overhead, and ensures every CV sent to clients meets the same standard.

Common Questions Recruiters Ask

Does CVFormatter overwrite existing resumes in JobAdder?
No. Original resumes remain untouched. Formatted CVs are added as new files.

Can multiple recruiters use the integration?
Yes. CVFormatter supports team usage without additional seat charges.

Do I need to reconnect JobAdder each time?
No. Once authorised, the integration stays connected unless access is revoked.

Why This Integration Improves Day-to-Day Recruiting Work

Recruiters do not want more tools. They want fewer steps.

The CVFormatter and JobAdder integration removes unnecessary file handling and manual formatting, allowing recruiters to move from candidate intake to submission with less friction.

Instead of spending time fixing documents, teams can focus on candidate quality, client communication, and speed — all of which directly impact placement success.

Final Thoughts

CV formatting has long been treated as unavoidable admin work. In reality, it is one of the easiest parts of the recruitment workflow to standardise and automate.

By connecting CVFormatter with JobAdder, recruitment teams can reduce formatting time, improve consistency, and maintain full control over what is stored in their ATS.

Once adopted, the workflow becomes second nature — and formatting stops being a bottleneck altogether.
